Judges is full of people with struggles and insecurities just like you and I. But not only can we relate to the people's stories in Judges but we can draw insightful and helpful principles that relate to us today and give us incredible glimpses of God's heart and character.
Why Judges?
Judges has been compared to a Old Testament mirror of the church today. We can learn a lot from seeing how the the Lord interacted and dealt with His people in a society much like ours. But not only is Judges a relate-able book for today, it's full of stories making it incredibly engaging.
So how does this work?
Don't you just love options. Well, you have some.
* Individually. There are three different ways you can do this on your own.
1. You can use the daily devotional paperback or kindle.
2. You can work your way through with the worksheet. All you have to do is print off the Discussion Guide (one for each day).
3. You can do both.
* In a group, it's super simple! All you need to do is to print the Discussion Guide for each person in in the group each week. (There are different discussion guides depending on if your group is using the devotional or not). Start with an engaging question like, "Share a high and a low from the week" and then give a Discussion Guide to each person in the group. Read the chapter for that week together and then spend 30 minutes individually filling out the discussion guide. After 30 minutes, come back together and take turns sharing what the Lord showed you. Then spend some time sharing prayer requests and pray for each other. See the Leading Effective Bible Studies Book for ideas of how to pray for each other. Visit (and let your group know about) the Judges Devotional and Leaders Tips for some resources to help you.
